Description

The interest of the Bollenberg site is linked to the presence of dry grasslands (Xerobrometum) interspersed with hedges, bushes and deciduous woodlands. There are also fruit trees and oak groves. Due to the influence of the mountainous screen of the Vosges and the Petit Ballon and Ventron massifs, the climate of the Rouffach hills is one of the driest of the Pré-Vosgiennes hills in Alsace. There are both species from continental environments and species linked to the Mediterranean climate. The fauna numbers 468 species, including birds such as Eurasian Hoopoe, Wood Lark, Little Owl, Common Cuckoo, Eurasian Wryneck, Eurasian Skylark, European Stonechat and Cirl Bunting.
