The casino 1st floor terrace provides shelter from the elements. Hossegor lake is a seawater lake that is used by pelagics birds as a refuge and gulls in winter
The Capbreton Casino Waterfront is an excellent seawatching spot during autumn migration. Especially during eastward incoming storms. Red Phalarope, Pomarine Skua, Arctic Skua (Parasitic Jaeger), Sabine's Gull, Great Shearwater, Sooty Shearwater, Balearic Shearwater, European Storm Petrel, Leach's Storm Petrel, Black Tern and Arctic Tern are the target species when strong westerlies blow individuals to the beach.
Hossegor Lake is to check during autumn gales as Leach's Storm Petrel and other pelagic birds can seek shelter in the lake. The lake is also used as a roosting place for gulls in winter
By car to Capbreton. Access to the terrace of the casino by foot only.
