A coastal site dedicated to gulls and seawatching sessions in autumn and winter, particularly after 2-3 days of strong west/northwesterly winds.
Embouchure de l'Adour is the mouth of the river Adour. This place is an autumn migration attraction. Seawatching sessions provide very good opportunities to see pelagics birds like European Storm Petrel, Leach's Storm Petrel, Cory's Shearwater, Balearic Shearwater, Sooty Shearwater and Sabine's Gull. The coastal beach provides a good habitat for migrating passerines (pipits, wagtails, warblers, flycatchers).
Embouchure de l'Adour is located 5 km north of the town of Biarritz and 5 km west of the village of Bayonne. You can reach the area by car or by bike from Bayonne train station. You can watch on both sides of the river mouth (see the map). Click on a P in the map to get directions to that point.
