South of Toulouse, Lake Lamartine is a protected area built in old gravel pits in the town of Roques-sur-Garonne.

Description

It is home to many nesting and / or wintering water birds that you will discover from the observation posts or from the landscaped path that runs along it.

Chance on seeing Common Kingfisher, Common Pochard, Ferruginous Duck, Osprey and Black Kite.

Access

From Toulouse, drive south on E80/A64 up to Roques-sur-Garonne, then take the D817 road toward Muret and turn left to Frouzins (D42). Before entering Frouzins turn right (Lac de Lamartine sign).

The lake is 17 km south of Toulouse.

The bird hide is accessible only through a key-locked gate. The key is accesssible from the ward at the entrance of the park.
