Observatoire d Ancenis

Loire Atlantique  >  France

Small wetland that only holds water in winter.

Added by Letort

Description

Small, quiet area equipped for bird observations with descriptive sheets at the Observatory. It is interesting to see at several times of the year. In summer it is a vast field but when the rain comes the pasture gives way to a wetland with a lot of birds. So it is a marsh which holds only water in winter. Among the birds you can see here are Great Cormorant, Northern Lapwing, Mute Swan, Great Egret, Little Egret, Cattle Egret and Grey Heron. Good to combine with the marsh of Marais de Grée that is close by and also described on Birdingplaces.

The area is signposted from the main road. There is a parking lot a few meters away. I advise you to park there and continue on foot. For the more motivated there are platforms that have been set up to be able to walk around it.
