The Chaux plateau is a must-see ornithological site, its fauna, flora and landscapes are exceptional, offering a taste of Provence.

Description

The plateau is an agricultural area having kept a very authentic character and pastoral areas offering various environments. The site is best known for observing a colony of Rock Sparrow. Also Wood Lark, Eurasian Skylark, European Stonechat, Tawny Pipit and Corn Bunting roam the various habitats. The Red-backed Shrike nests in the groves and hedges. Hoopoe, Wryneck and Eurasian Scops Owl are rare but present. The site is also good for migrants such as Montagu's Harrier, Woodchat Shrike and Whinchat. In winter, the site welcomes many passerines Chaffinch, Brambling, Linnet, Yellowhammer, Cirl Bunting and Rock Bunting, but also Red-billed Chough.

Le plateau est une zone agricole ayant gardé un caractère trés autentique, culture d'aromatique et zone pastorales offrents divers milieux.  Le site est surtout connu pour l'obseravtion d'une colonie de Rock Sparrow (des nichoirs sont à leurs dispostion). Aussi, Wood Lark Eurasian Skylark European Stonechat Tawny Pipit Corn Bunting arpentent les divers cultures. La Red-backed Shrike niche dans le bosquets et haies. Hoopoe Wryneck Eurasian Scops Owl sont rares mais bien présent. Le site est aussi favorable aux migrateurs comme Montagu's Harrier Woodchat Shrike Whinchat. En hiver, le site acceuille de nombreux passereaux Chaffinch Brambling Linnet Yellowhammer Cirl Bunting Rock Bunting mais aussi Red-billed Chough.
