Today the site constitutes a privileged stopover for migratory birds which find rest and food there. Composed of a mosaic of environments (bodies of water, willows, reed beds, meadows, junks ...), the Marais d'Orx welcomes in particular a great diversity of water birds, and has become a site of Community importance for the wintering of Anatidae. We also observe a large number of species dependent on wetlands (amphibians, reptiles, insects, mammals ...).
