Réserve Naturelle de l'Estuaire de la Seine

Seine Maritime  >  France

Great birding right next to the Normandy Bridge with small paths that wind through the marshes of the Seine estuary.

Description

The Seine estuary is one of the three largest estuaries in France, together with the Loire and the Gironde. The Réserve Naturelle de l'Estuaire de la Seine is a vast wetland near Le Havre of almost 10,000 hectares, which shelters a set of typical and remarkable environments on a European scale - subtidal environments, mud flats, salt meadows, ponds, reed beds, wet meadows - at the interface between land and sea. A paradise for birds. A part of the estuary that is very easy accessible for birders is the area along the Normandy Bridge. Among the birds you can see here are Bearded Tit, Northern Wheatear, Bluethroat, Eurasian KestrelCommon Cuckoo, Meadow Pipit and Hen Harrier.
