Description

Réserve Naturelle Régionale de l'étang d'Amel is an important wetland. The pond is surrounded by a large reed belt (approximately 50 hectares). There are also meadows with hedges. More than 100 bird species live here or make a stop during migration. The site is also a hotspot for dragonflies (40 species). Among the birds you can see here are Great Bittern, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Common Crane, Water Rail, Spotted Crake, Western Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Eurasian Hobby, Black Kite, Sparrowhawk, White-tailed Eagle, Marsh Warbler, Reed Warbler, Great Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler, Bluethroat, Savi's Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Mallard, Gadwall, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Eurasian Wigeon, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Smew, Goosander, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Great Cormorant, Mute Swan, Red-backed Shrike, Great Grey Shrike, Yellowhammer, Corn Bunting, Spotted Flycatcher, Common Redstart, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Français: Site classé en Réserve Naturelle Régionale (étang avec vaste roselière, prairies avec haies). Site de référence en Lorraine pour l'avifaune de zones humides. Intêret pour les oiseaux d'eau (anatidés, hérons, rallidés...), les rapaces de zones humides, les passereaux paludicoles et les passereaux de milieux buissonnants.

Access

There is a car park on the northwest of the site, on the village side of Senon. An 8 km trail runs around the site. There are two observatories. Respect the regulations and private property while staying on the trail. Reserved parking for people with disabilities, near the observatory near Senon.

Français: Se rendre sur le parking de la réserve naturelle au nord-ouest du site, côté village de Senon. Sentier de 8km autour du site, avec présence de deux observatoires. Respecter la réglementation en vigueur et les propriétées privées en restant sur le sentier. Parking réservé pour les personnes en situation de handicap, au niveau de l'observatoire côté de Senon.
