The Anklamer Stadtbruch lies in the northeast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is a wide moor landscape in the transition between land and sea.
The 1,500 hectare wilderness area of Anklamer Stadtbruch is home to numerous nice species such as White-tailed Eagle, Common Crane, Common Rosefinch, Whiskered Tern, Eurasian River Warbler and Great Bittern. In summer you can still find large numbers of Common Crane. Also all kinds of raptors are common like Red Kite, Osprey, Black Kite, Marsh Harrier and Eurasian Hobby.
Parking in Bugewitz (click on the P on the map to get directions). The best way to explore the area from there is by bicycle. The circular route that is shown on the map is about 10,5 km.
Anklamer Stadtbruch is also home to a big population of beavers and otters. It also has the highest density of White-tailed Eagle in Germany.
