Nature reserve around the lake Barsbecker See with reedbeds surrounded by low intensity farmland and meadows, pastures and hedgerows. While there is no access and very limited views onto the lake and reedbeds, the surrounding land is quite interesting, particularly in the winter. During the winter thousands of geese can be seen on the pastures including the occasional Red-breasted Goose. Similarly many Fieldfare, Redwing and Eurasian Curlew can be seen. In the summer time European Stonechat and Northern Wheatear are relativly common. White-tailed Eagle can be seen year round.
Diffcult to access by public transport (Bus station Wendtorf-Marina). Several parking lots in the area, but they might cost a parking fee during summer and are quickly full when te weather is nice.
