Lake of 23 hectares located on the western edge of the city of Dillingen. The lake serves to regulate the river Saar during floods and attracts many birds.

Description

The Dillinger Ökosee is a bird sanctuary. Swans, ducks and geese, herons, storks, birds of prey, rails and gulls as well as numerous songbird species can be observed. The birds have resting areas on the central island and in the front part of the lake. In the rear part you can observe the birds very well from the viewing platform. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are Great Crested Grebe, Common Kingfisher, Great Bittern, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Egyptian Goose and Eurasian Moorhen.

Access

The circular walk around the lake is about 3,5 km. You can park in the parking lot at the beginning of the circuit. Click on the P in the map for directions.
