Description

Eriskircher Ried is an area where many water birds (e.g. diving ducks and swans) overwinter. Also an important breeding area. Several platforms for bird watching are available. Among the birds you can see are Ruddy Shelduck, Bewick's Swan, Whooper Swan, Common Kingfisher, Greater Scaup, Red-crested Pochard, Common Goldeneye, Garganey, Common Teal, Northern Shoveler, Black-necked Grebe, Black-throated Diver, Red-throated Diver, Eurasian Curlew, Little Ringed Plover, Wood Sandpiper, Common Greenshank, Common Redshank, Ruff, Black-crowned Night Heron, Black Tern, Whiskered Tern, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Red Kite, Western Marsh Harrier and Osprey.

Good spots to observe birds are: 1) the platform next to Strandbad, 2) the mouth of Schussen 3) the platform in the middle of the area, 4) platform at north end of the area.
