West Brandenburg  >  Germany

This large lake and its surroundings is one of the better birding sites in Brandenburg. It is situated on the Havel a tributary of the Elbe.

Added by Steven Schulting

Description

It's and excellent place for White-tailed Eagle, harriers and Rough-legged Buzzard. In winter there are huge numbers of wintering geese, ducks and Common Crane. Around the lake there are scattered bushes, reedbeds, flooded meadows, and marshlands and even some wooded dunes. The varied landscape offers plenty of opportunity to see interesting birds all year round.
