Old military training area which is now one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the region. Many species of woodpecker and other birds can be found here.
The Hainberg is an open area, but also partly covered with forest. Bird watching here is most worthwhile in summer, when Red-backed Shrike, Golden Oriole, White-throated Dipper, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Common Redstart and Wryneck can be seen. At the small pond and the river you can watch Common Kingfisher as well as geese, ducks and Great Cormorant in the forest. And of course other typical forest birds.
The area can only be explored on foot or by bike. For a parking place right next to the entrance of the area click on the P in the map.
