Description

Jröne Meerke (little green sea) is a small park with a pond at the north-western edge of the city of Neuss. It contains the only Western European colony of Snow Goose. Depending on the season there are also numerous other waterfowl, such as Tufted Duck, Mallard, Gadwall, Little Grebe, Great Cormorant, Eurasian Moorhen or Eurasian Coot. There are many trees and a small forest in the park that host numerous songbirds, including Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Eurasian Nuthatch, Common Chaffinch, European Goldfinch, Greenfinch, European Robin, Eurasian Blue Tit, Great Tit and many more. If you want to see the Snow Goose, you should come in the early morning or before sunset as the geese often go out to the surrounding fields for feeding.
