Description
During migration at Kiesgrube Niederweimar there is a chance to see locally uncommon birds resting on the water or on the meadows next to it. Also there are releatively large reed and shrub areas attracting roosting and breeding birds.

Easily accessible by bike or train from the closeby trainstation Niederweimar. Also there is a car-parking area next to the bigger lake Surfsee Niederweimar and in the village around the trainstation.

Unfortunately the area is very close to the a big road B3, which makes it quite noisy. Also the bigger lake is used for recreation and therefore it is suggested to visit the area in early morning.

A few kilometers in the south you can find Kiesgrube Niederwalgern, so this place here is good for a short in between visit on the way there (if you come from Marburg by train, bike or car).
