Numerous forest birds can be found here around the historic spring Königsbrünnchen.
Königsbrünnchen is a bubbling and natural spring. The water spreads a light smell of rotten eggs because of hydrogen sulfide. The spring is located in an old, somewhat enchanted alluvial forest. Many wider paths as well as narrow paths invite you to explore this area, which, despite tall trees, lets in a lot of light and ensures good visibility. Birds such as Black Woodpecker, European Robin, Song Thrush, Wren and Coal Tit can be seen here during the day. In spring and summer you can also see the Mandarin Duck in the small stream. It is also a wonderful place to linger and have a picnic.
Königsbrünnchen is located just south of Frankfurt. You can use public transport from Frankfurt (Tram 14) to get to the Oberschweinstiege tram stop. A car park of the same name is also nearby. Click on the P in the map for directions. Otherwise, it is advisable to reach and explore the area by bike. The map shows a short 1,5 km circular walk, but there are numerous other paths to extend the walk.
