The banks of river Lippe to the north-east of Hamm are partly renaturated and therefore a good trip into nature not far outside the city centre.

In Lippeauen Hamm typical birds of the floodplains come for resting and breeding. Also there are good managed paths to walk and also several observation platforms.



Easily accessible via bus (lines 1 and T4) or bike. Also a 15 minute ride by bike from city centre Hamm. You can also access by car with several parking locations.

About 10 km to the east following the Lippe there is NSG Heidemühle and Disselmersch a bit farther away from the city and therefore a bit more promising and quiet. About the same distance in the opposite direction you can find NSG Am Tibaum that is also a renaturated part of river Lippe.
