Description

Bamberg attracts thousands of tourists every year. If you search a place for closeby birding the Luisenhain is the perfect choice. On days with good weather you will have to share it with many other visitors, so an early start is recommended. Among the more sought after species for the international visitor are Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch, Firecrest, Crested Tit, Eurasian Treecreeper, Short-toed Treecreeper and Golden Oriole. Pied Flycatcher breed in several of the nest boxes present throughout the whole park area. Near the pond and the paths along the river the chances to see a Common Kingfisher are good. In the winter waterbirds ( Goosander, Little Grebe, Common Pochard, Common Goldeneye and maybe Smew) are present close to the tip of the peninsular and near the weir.
