Both lakes are worth a visit during breeding season. Apart from the already mentioned Black-necked Grebe patient scanning of the reeds might produce Little Bittern, Purple Heron, Great Reed Warbler, Bluethroat and Savi's Warbler.

The site is located between Gerolzhofen and Mönchstockheim. A car park lies immediately north of the Neuer See. You can explore the area best by foot or by bicycle. On both lakes you find a gap in the reed belt on their western shore, which allow a sufficient overview.
