NSG Wester-Spätinge is a beautiful little nature reserve. Especially during high tide in the Wadden Sea birds seek these refuges and shelter here for resting. But also otherwise you can spot rare birds in the reeds or at the little islands and mudbanks. Comfortably spotting from the dike.
NSG Wester-Spätinge is close to bus station Simonsberg Deich but also easily accessible by bike just following the dike road from Husum to Westerhever. Also near the bus station you can park your car and have a little walk to the birdingplace.

There are several little ponds around in the area. Especially in Winter during high tide they are worth a look for Smew, Red-necked Phalarope and others.
About 9km along the dike in direction of Westerhever you will find Tetenbüll-Speicher. Also in this area a look over the dike on the mudflats especially during high tide is always worth it.
