Description

As the whole Neckar valley has lots of former and recent sand mining, there are many little lakes, that became conservation or recreation areas. On the lakes of Oberes Steinach there are always chances to see common and uncommon birds, as for the landscape around the river is more dominated by farmland and forest. Especially during migration there are also chances for rare birds. Among the birds you can see in the area are Red-crested Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Common Teal, Common Goldeneye, Goosander, Little Grebe, Water Rail, Great Bittern, Common Snipe, Reed Bunting, Grey Wagtail and Peregrine Falcon.
