With over 100 hectares, the Ockstädter Kirschenberg is the largest contiguous orchard area in Hessen. 84 bird species have been recorded in the area.
The Ockstädter Kirschenberg is one of the most important areas for the Common Redstart (be careful not to confuse it with the Black Redstart). The Common Redstart is represented here with over 50 territories and is considered to be endangered in Hessen and has an insufficiently bad state of conservation. Other nice birds you can see in this area are Wryneck, Sparrowhawk, Short-toed Treecreeper, European Turtle Dove, Red-backed Shrike and Little Owl.
Parking lot for the Usa-Wellenbades in Bad Nauheim or in the village of Ockstadt. Bus line FB32 to the Friedberg (Hessen) - Ockstadt Am Kirschenberg stop. There are many roads and paths running through the area. On the map you see an example of a circular trail of 4 km.
