Large open space that is used for agriculture with both meadows and arable land.
The Pätzer Plan is a large open space that is used for agriculture. The area is a mix of meadows and arable land. In the back there is also a small wetland. In winter, these areas are used as winter quarters for migratory birds such as Common Crane, Greylag Goose and Northern Lapwing. In summer there is a good chance of seeing Red-backed Shrike, Snipe or Hoopoe. Other birds you can encounter in the area are Marsh Harrier, Eurasian Kestrel, Common Buzzard, Rough-legged Buzzard, Great Grey Shrike and Red Kite.
The place is easy to reach by car. Parking at the Haus des Waldes, click on the P in the map for directions. It is also possible to reach the eara by bicycle (from the train station “Bestensee”) and there is also a bus that stops in front of the Pätzer Plan.
