The woodland on Asperberg is home to several types of forest. From beech forest to coniferous forest to mixed forest. As a result, many forest bird species can be found there. But the high density of woodpeckers is characteristic. Five woodpecker species (Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Eurasian Green Woodpecker) can be found in the area.
There is a car park directly on the road (Triftstraße), from which a path leads into the forest. The path is intended for cyclists and pedestrians and is divided into several smaller paths.
