Description

In Schellbruch reserve close to the city of Lübeck you find different types of habitats with a great variety of birds in a rather small area (although the complete reserve is not small at all. The reserve is managed by the NABU (German organisation for protecting nature) and a local organic farmer.

Good all year through but best in late spring. Fantastic place for Bluethroat, Savi's Warbler, Bearded Tit, White-tailed Eagle and Woodpeckers. In autumn also great flocks of geese in some years. Little Ringed Plover and Northern Lapwing occur as well as Common Kingfisher. Winter is good for Great Grey Shrike, Smew, Goosander and sometimes Great Bittern.
