Description

In the vineyards and ochards on the Schönberg you can find birds like Cirl Bunting, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Common Redstart and Yellowhammer. The woodland habitats are offering Black Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Eurasian Green Woodpecker a place to live. This is also the habitat where Golden Oriole and Eurasian Nuthatch can be seen.

Access

When you visit the city of Freiburg you can easily take the bike to get to the Schönberg location. You can also take the train to the trainstation "St. Georgen" or the tram number 3 to the tramstation "Innsbrucker Straße".

If you want to have a beautiful view over the city of Freiburg you can visit the castle ruins of the "Schneeburg". On the way you walk through beech woods. There you have a chance to see Wood Warbler in spring and summer.
