The Schutzgebiet Plauel - Rodenbach area has a very rural beauty due to the renaturation since 2006. It has diverse habitats and good viewing points. Among the birds you can see are European Stonechat, Grey Partridge, Green Sandpiper, Red Kite, Skylark and Reed Bunting.

The area is not far away from either Sterzhausen, Goßfelden and Wetter. Each of these villages has a train station, therefore it is easy to explore with a bike or on foot. Also it is accessible by car. There is no designated parking area, but due to the rural location it is possible to leave your car next to the road.
