Description
With multiple lakes, vast reedlands and wet meadows with multiple lookout towers and one larger observation tower Strengsee/Rietzersee is a reliable site for various sorts of reed- and waterbirds such as Northern Pintail , Northern Shoveler , Eurasian Wigeon , Gadwall . Also Bluethroat , Bearded Tit, Penduline Tit are possible.
In autumn and winter it is an important site for geese, Common Crane, grebes and ducks. The large flocks of geese sometimes attract White-tailed Eagle . Other birds of prey include harriers, kites and buzzards.

Access
The observation tower can best be reached via Netzen. Follow the signs "Beobachtungsturm" there is a parking area very close to the tower. From there walk to the tower which provides a nice view over the lake, and then follow the canal which goes to Rietzer See.
