Description

Teichgebiet Entenschenke is a mixture of lakes of different sizes and of different use. Some are still used for fish breeding, whereas others remain almost natural. This makes it suitable for almost all kinds of water-dependent bird species, ranging from Whooper Swan, over several duck species towards Great Reed Warbler. It is also a good area for observing Penduline Tit. The bigger lakes can inhabit large numbers of moulting, breeding and resting waterfowl, especially ducks like Common Pochard, Garganey or Common Goldeneye. in the reed beds, the Great Bittern can be found as breeding bird. Raptors like White-tailed Eagle, Osprey and Western Marsh Harrier are almost guaranteed to see.

Access

You arrive at Teichgebiet Entenschenk best by bike or car. It is recommended to park somewhere and then explore the area on foot. Due to the large lakes and variety of paths, your tour might get long, especially when carrying a heavy scope or camera. There are no dedicated parking spots (one suitable spot was recently closed, but might open again?), so you have to search for a suitable place next to the road. Be aware, that these ponds are economically used for fish breeding, so please keep all the tracks towards the lakes free for heavy machines!
