Small open area within a coniferous forest, formerly used as a military training area. The area is kept open with grazing Przewalski's horses.
The Tennenloher Forst is a nature reserve of 936 hectare within a 25 thousand hectare forest called Nürnberger Reichswald. There is an open former military training ground of 90 hectare in its core that became a nice place to see birds such as Eurasian Nightjar, Eurasian Woodcock and Whinchat and many other birds. Przewalski's horses roam free here and keep the area open.
From the parking (see P on the map) you can make a circular walk (see the map) of about 4 km.
