Nagy-tó means Big Lake. In this large wetland next to the village of Tiszaalpár there is a big heron nesting colony in the willows-jungle around the Big Lake. Plenty of Black-crowned Night Heron, Cattle Egret, Little Egret, Great Egret, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Eurasian Spoonbill and Squacco Heron nest in the area. But there are many other interesting birds to see like Mediterranean Gull, Red-necked Grebe, Smew, White-tailed Eagle and Red-throated Pipit.
