Description

Along the walkway of James Larkin Road you can see many different bird species reaching out to Bull Island making it one of the best hotspots for birdwatching in Ireland.

For example Brent Goose, Northern Pintail, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Common Shelduck, Dunnock, Ruddy Turnstone, Eurasian Curlew, Northern Lapwing and Eurasian Teal can be seen in this area.

A great number of birds can be seen from Autumn to early Spring (September to February) as well as in summer. This area should be visited at low tide and definitely bring your binoculars as the Common Shelduck tend to stay out far in the middle of the water.
