Description
Get up early with high tide, before the dogwalkers appear, and the beach will have plenty of birds in easy reach of a short stroll. Eurasian Oystercatcher, Eurasian Curlew, Grey Heron and Common Redshank are all likely on the beach around the waterline. Ruddy Turnstone, Hooded Crow and Pied Wagtail may be more likely on exposed seaweed or flotsam around the tide mark. Rook is also possible. European Shag is most likely hauled out on rocky outcrops, although Great Cormorant is becoming more common in recent times. Black-headed Gull is common with occasional Mediterranean Gull. Common Eider and Mallard are likely in the water.
For a slightly longer walk a path goes along the cliffs at the north end of the bay where Rock Pipit, European Stonechat and Red-billed Chough could be encountered.
