Flow fields and flow lake of the former potato factory Oranje. Nowadays a bird sanctuary where you can see Red-necked Grebe. A rare species in The Netherlands.

Description

Flow fields and the flow lake of the former potato flour factory Oranje, which is now Speelstad Oranje. After closing the factory, this flow field system was transformed into the bird sanctuary Diependal. You can see many birds here, but the highlight of this bird sanctuary is Red-necked Grebe, that breeds in the area and is very rare to see elsewhere in The Netherlands.

Extra info

The special feature of the bird hide in Diependal is that access is via an underground corridor. This way you will be in the middle of the area without disturbing anything. From the cabin you have a beautiful view over the flow fields. In the summer, the Red-necked Grebe breeds here, but you can also expect Black-necked Grebe here.
