Description

The Harderbroek is a wetland located on the east side of the Flevopolder adjacent to the Wolderwijd. The city of Harderwijk is located on the other side. The original part of the Harderbroek is not freely accessible but can be seen from the dikes. A new part of the Harderbroek is Plan Great Bittern, which is accessible via the Ganzenpad, a paved road parallel to the Ganzenweg. You can reach a great bird hide via a path. Here you have a chance to see Penduline Tit, Bearded Tit, Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler, Savi's Warbler, Water Rail and Great Bittern . From the bird hide you have a beautiful view of the area.

A wide variety of water birds and waders can be admired in the marsh and lake area Harderbroek. Also Eurasian Spoonbill. Special species that have been seen here are Little Crake, Baillon's Crake, Spotted Crake, Black-winged Stilt, Marsh Sandpiper and in the winter sometimes large groups of Whooper Swan and Bewick's Swan and huge groups of ducks.

Access

To get to the bird hide, walk about one and a half kilometers on the path (see the map). The path starts at the parking lot of Natuurmonumenten on the Ganzenpad. The route is marked in white and leads to a viewing hill. The walk is about 3 kilometers long back and forth. The path largely leads through the new part of the nature reserve. It also runs through the older part of the forest. In bad weather don't forget to bring boots.
