Description

Het Twiske has reedbeds full of birds, open water with many waterbirds and also the famous dutch wet meadows. Great Bittern, Water Rail, Smew, Sedge Warbler and Bluethroat are just a few of the great birds you can see here. In winter, Eurasian Wigeon hibernates here in large numbers.

Nederlands: Het Twiske is een recreatie- en natuurgebied en een typisch Noord-Hollands veenplassengebied in de Zaanstreek. Het ligt ten noordwesten van Amsterdam. Het Twiske is het hele jaar door een heerlijk vogelgebied. Het heeft rietvelden vol vogels, open water met veel watervogels en ook typische Hollandse natte weilanden. Great Bittern, Water Rail, Smew, Sedge Warbler en Bluethroat zijn slechts enkele van de geweldige vogels die je hier kunt zien. In de winter overwintert de Eurasian Wigeon hier massaal.

Access

The area is accessable on many different points. On the map you see a long walking trail around the entire area of about 11 km long. But you can easily make a shorter walk.

Nederlands: Het gebied is op veel verschillende punten toegankelijk. Op de kaart zie je een wandelpad rond het hele gebied van zo'n 11 km lang. Maar je kunt ook gemakkelijk een kortere wandeling of fietstocht maken.
