The location on a lateral moraine ('Stuwwal') makes Duno special. Crossed with streams, it is unique in high-low, wet-dry contrasts. Landgoed Duno is a very varied area with occasionally open spaces in the forest. Besides the birds it is a beautiful area to walk. Among the birds you can see in the forest are Eurasian Nuthatch, Tawny Owl, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch, Short-toed Treecreeper and Common Raven.
It is best to park in the Dunolaan (click on the P in the map to go there directly). At the parking a forest path enters the Estate. It is best to explore the area on foot. You can follow the route that is shown on the map (4 km). Or follow the red marker route of about 5 km (which starts at Castle Doorwerth at Fonteinallee 2b in Doorwerth) and runs through the estate.
