Description

Arkemheen is a polder landscape, in fact one of the oldest in The Netherlands. Iy is a meadow bird area par excellence! The cycle path over the dike is full of interesting birdstops. Birds are all around you. In the meadows of the polder, on the water and on the banks of the Nijkerkernauw. Many birds can be seen here like Black-tailed GodwitCommon RedshankNorthern Lapwing and Eurasian Oystercatcher. Quite often you can even see a White-tailed Eagle.

Access

Take exit Nijkerk from highway A28 and you are allready in the area. You can best explore the area on a bike or walking, because cars are not allowed in most parts of the polder. The cycle route you see on the map is 20 km and runs along the most birdrich parts of the polder.
