Striep High Water Refuge

Wadden Sea island of Terschelling  >  Netherlands

A place outside of the dike that stays partly dry for most of the time where you can see many waders.

Added by Cockie Streng

Striep is a high water refuge on the island of Terschelling where birds seek refuge when it's high tide in the Wadden Sea. You can see all kinds of waders, ducks and gulls fouraging, very often in large groups. During migration sometimes rarities and special birds can be found here.

There is a cycling path all along the outside of the dike close to the water. If you like to come by car, you can park at the inside of the dike, close to Striep. There is no official parking area.
