Description

The birdhide at the Westerplas is a good place to observe birds. Anything can show up here during migration and you have a nice view on a Great Cormorantbreeding colony.

Almost all Dutch duck species are found here, along with, Eurasian Spoonbill, Great Crested Grebe, Eurasian Coot and many gulls. Various types of shy reed birds house in the broad reed collars, of which the mysterious Great Bittern is perhaps the most special. But also many songbirds such as Common Redpoll, Bluethroat and Reed Bunting can be found here.
