Top of the Serra de Alcaria Ruiva. Great place for observing birds of prey and birds of rocky areas.
Serra de Alcaria Ruiva is the highest point in the municipality of Mértola, with 370 meters high. It has a dense, typically Mediterranean vegetation cover. On the top of Alcaria Ruiva you have a panoramic view. It is an ideal point for observing birds of prey that occur in the surrounding Parque Natural Vale do Guadiana. Among the birds you can see are: Eurasian Black Vulture, Spanish Eagle, Golden Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Red Kite, Black Kite, Bonelli's Eagle, Short-toed Snake Eagle and Booted Eagle.
