Description

Ribeira da Muxagata is an area that combines a small village with agricultural areas, forests, bushes and riparian systems, along the Ribeira da Muxagata and in its connection to the Mondego River. Among the birds you can encounter in the area are European Bee-eater, Water Rail, Reed Warbler, Little Egret, Eurasian Goshawk, Sparrowhawk, Hawfinch, Short-toed Snake Eagle, Red Kite, Little Grebe, Red-legged Partridge, Subalpine Warbler, Sardinian Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, European Honey-buzzard, Iberian Magpie, Common Kingfisher, Melodious Warbler, Western Bonelli's Warbler, Red-backed Shrike, Iberian Grey Shrike, Griffon Vulture, Eurasian Black Vulture, Booted Eagle, Eurasian Siskin, Crested Tit, Coal Tit and Woodchat Shrike.

Access

Easy access zone. Part of the route can be done by car but another part will have to be done either on foot or by bicycle. Being in a valley, the whole area is practically flat. The entire area has a marked trail (GR22) and at its end it includes a Biodiversity station, with information panels on fauna and flora.

Português: Zona de fácil acesso. Parte do percurso pode ser feita de automóvel mas outra parte terá de ser feita ou a pé ou de bicicleta. Estando num vale, toda a zona é praticamente plana. Toda a zona tem trilho marcado (GR22) e na sua parte final engloba uma estação da Biodiversidade, com painéis informativos sobre fauna e flora.

Some areas can be used by people with reduced mobility. The possibility of a circular route depends on the flow of water in the Ribeira river and in winter this issue may not be possible. In summer, and due to the existence of dams, it is possible to cross.

A possibilidade de percurso circular depende do fluxo de água na Ribeira sendo que no inverno essa questão pode não ser possível. No Verão e devido à existência de açudes, é possível atravessar o Mondego, entre margens.
