Castle ruins in the middle of the Villuercas mountains. A great area for many raptors and birds of rocky areas.
The Castle sits on one of the parallel ridges of the mountains. The nearby cliffs are breeding sites for a score of birds (mainly raptors) and they often soar by. Given that the site is relatively high altitude, many mountain species can be found here as well (especially in winter).
From the village of Cabanas del Castillo, follow the signs "Castillo". After a quite steep and rocky climb up the mountain, you reach the Castle.
Peregrine Falcon, an otherwise rare bird in Extremadura, on the rockface south of the Castle.
