Description

Lagoa de Baldaio is connected directly to the Atlantic Ocean. The lagoon is a mix of fresh and salt water, creating a fertile marshland where a multitude and diversity of birds can be observed, especially during migration and wintering. From September to May, when the tide begins to recede, you can observe Eurasian Curlew, Whimbrel, Black-tailed Godwit, Eurasian Oystercatcher and Eurasian Spoonbill. And facing the beach it's not uncommon to spot Sandwich Tern, Northern Gannet, Great Northern Diver or Balearic Shearwater.
