Description
A scenic combination of mountain pass, cliffs, and alpine meadows, the Pas de Maimbre is an excellent location to observe typical alpine species such as the Yellow-billed Chough and Red-billed Chough up close. It is also home to the Bearded Vulture, which, with a bit of patience, can often be seen in all its majestic beauty. Common species here include Water Pipit, Common Raven, White-winged Snowfinch, and Northern Wheatear. Sometimes Griffon Vulture are observed; these are immature individuals from a population in Southern Europe that spend the summer in Switzerland. With a bit of luck, observations of Wallcreeper, Whinchat, Peregrine Falcon, Golden Eagle, and Citril Finch are possible.

Access
The area can be reached via the cable car from the village of Anzère. Parking is available at the cable car station (paid) or elsewhere in the village, 10 minutes by foot to the cable car. The ride to the top takes approximately 10 minutes.
At the top of the Pas de Maimbré, a walk of about 50 minutes can be taken, during which Bearded Vulture, Red-billed Chough, and Yellow-billed Chough may be observed. It is recommended to go up around midday, as the Bearded Vulture is less active and harder to spot in the morning.
