Description
Doğubayazıt Marshes comprises two lakes separated by an extensive marsh with reedbeds and wet meadows, situated at the foot of Mount Ararat. The lakes are covered mainly by reed, with large parts drying up in summer. The plains surrounding the wetland are grazed, and reed-cutting takes place. Bird species richness is high in the Doğubayazıt Marshes. Also, the abundance of birds is high. Among the birds you can encounter are Ruddy Shelduck, Garganey, Black-winged Stilt, Common Ringed Plover, Spotted Redshank, Armenian Gull, Whiskered Tern, Purple Heron, Squacco Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Eurasian Spoonbill and Western Marsh Harrier.
