Description
Hersek Lagoon is an easy place to go by car. If you want to be in a wetland where you can expect rare birds in Turkey such as Red-breasted Goose, Velvet Scoter, Slavonian Grebe, Greater Scaup and much more you can take your chance in this place. There is a nice visitor centre and observation tower as well. Also, this area is located on the migration flyway of soaring birds such as White Stork, Common Buzzard, Greater Spotted Eagle, Lesser Spotted Eagle and many more. It is also possible to see waders or shore birds. Greater Flamingo gather in winter that you can see closely. Also several other places of interest you can visit besides the Hersek Lagoon birding area.

Access
You can reach Hersek Lagoon by car. It is close to İstanbul, Kocaeli or Bursa. You can even go there by public transport but just take into account that you may need to use taxi for short distances. Click on a P in the map for directions or coordinates.
