Description
There are many islands on the Lake Aktaş wetland. All of them are stiuated in Turkey. The lake is located at high elevation and it is a freswater lake. The landscape is beautiful with mountain grassland on this Caucasus hotspot. This lake was a breeding area of Velvet Scoter. Also, it is still an important breeding area for Dalmatian Pelican and Great White Pelican in Turkey. You can see breeding colonies of Dalmatian Pelican and Great White Pelican which have been restricted to several wetlands in Turkey. If you lucky, you can see Velvet Scoter in the lake which is accepted an ex-breeding area of the species. A new record of Velvet Scoter will be important in terms of conservation.
